If you are flying to Morocco with a US phone plan, the answer to "do I need an eSIM?" depends almost entirely on which carrier and which plan you have. For some T-Mobile customers, the honest answer is no. For Verizon customers paying a daily fee, a Morocco eSIM usually costs a fraction of the price.
We checked each carrier's own website on 22 September 2026. Where a price was only visible in an interactive tool we could not read, we say so instead of guessing.
The short answer
- T-Mobile lists coverage in Morocco, with data included on many plans: from unlimited data at 256 kbps up to 30 GB of high-speed data, depending on the plan.
- Verizon TravelPass costs $12 a day in its TravelPass countries, with 5 GB of high-speed data per day.
- AT&T sells an International Day Pass; check its price for Morocco in AT&T's own tool before you travel.
- A Morocco eSIM from us costs €24 for 7 days, about $27.51 at the European Central Bank rate of 22 September 2026.
T-Mobile: check your plan before you buy anything
T-Mobile's own Morocco page shows coverage available in Morocco and lists what each plan includes there:

T-Mobile also sells International Passes with high-speed data and unlimited calling: $5 for 1 day (512 MB), $50 for 10 days (15 GB) and $75 for 30 days (30 GB).
Our honest advice: if your plan includes 15 or 30 GB of high-speed data abroad, you probably do not need a Morocco eSIM for a normal trip. On a 5 GB plan, a one-week trip with daily maps, photos and video calls can run through the allowance; after that you are at 256 kbps, which is slow for maps and photos. That is where a Morocco eSIM, with 1 GB per day at full speed and then 512 Kbps, becomes useful. On plans billed at $1.00 per MB, do not use T-Mobile data in Morocco at all.
Verizon: TravelPass at $12 a day
Verizon's TravelPass lets you use your plan abroad for $12 a day in its TravelPass countries, which Verizon puts at more than 210. You get unlimited talk and text and 5 GB of high-speed data per session, then unlimited data at 3G speeds, and you are only charged on days you use your phone abroad. Morocco was not named on the Verizon pages we could read, so confirm it in Verizon's trip planner before you travel.

TravelPass has one real advantage: your US number keeps working with unlimited calls. If you rarely call, the eSIM saves about $56 on a week and more than $120 on two weeks.
AT&T
AT&T sells an International Day Pass for use abroad. We could not read its current Morocco price on AT&T's site, so we will not quote one. Look up Morocco in AT&T's international tool, multiply the daily price by the days you will spend there, and compare with our 7-day plan at €24.

Using a Morocco eSIM with a US phone
- Your phone must be unlocked. Phones still on a carrier payment plan are often locked; check before you buy. Use our compatibility check.
- Keep your US line on for calls and texts, but turn data roaming off on it so it does not start a TravelPass day or bill data by the megabyte.
- Set the Morocco eSIM as your data line. The plan starts at your first connection in Morocco, not when you install it.
- WhatsApp and FaceTime calls run over the eSIM's data.

If the connection does not come up when you land
In the vast majority of cases, the eSIM connects by itself within minutes of landing. If it does not, these steps, in this order, fix almost every case:
- Check the data line. In settings, mobile data must be switched on for the eSIM line, not for your home line.
- Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line if your phone asks for it: it is a phone setting and costs nothing on the eSIM.
- Turn off the airport Wi-Fi to force the phone onto the eSIM and genuinely test the connection.
- Switch airplane mode on for thirty seconds, then off again.
- Manually select an available Moroccan network in your network settings if automatic selection is slow.
- Restart the phone.
