If your carrier offers a weekly pass, roaming for a week is often in the same range as an eSIM. Without a pass, per-megabyte billing makes it the most expensive option by far.
A local SIM for 7 days
At Orange Maroc the SIM costs 20 MAD and internet recharges run from 50 to 1,000 MAD for 500 MB to 200 GB, valid up to 30 days (read 23 September 2026). It is the cheapest per gigabyte, but you buy it in Morocco with your passport, your phone must be unlocked, and on a single-SIM phone your home number is off while it is in.
A Morocco eSIM for 7 days

Settings that prevent a roaming bill
- With no pass, turn data roaming off on your home line before the plane lands.
- With an eSIM, set the eSIM as your data line and keep Allow Mobile Data Switching (iPhone) or auto data switch (Android) off.
- Turn off automatic app updates and photo backup outside Wi-Fi.
- Check your carrier's pass validity: some count calendar days, some 24-hour periods.
